Druids are priests of old rites. They don't rule the country but are of advice to the kings and subkings of Llamedos. Being old, wise and always aware of new religions and tribes trying to take over their people they are often powerful enough to make a ruler do to ther bidding - but this of course would be something completely different as to say the druids are ruling the country.
Druids know the ways of magic and are able to use some aspects of it but as their education is splattered with sometimes harsh lessons in natural powers, psychology and ancient myths they have a lot of tools to get what they want to achieve. Ofte an old druid would take care of only a few young apprentices. Thus the brotherhood of druids is a lot more like the circles of witches in the Ramrocks rather than the academic institute of wizards in the Sto Plains. Being men their confrontations are a lot more straight foreward than those of the first and beeing druids much more bloodier than those of the latter. A golden sickle would cut more than just herbs.
The most important task of druis would be the indemnification of the unity of their king with the land. A king not being one with his land would bring great troubles to her, the worst of it being failed crops and lesser, ill births to women and beasts. To ensure the unity druids in different kingdoms anf of different ways of serving the Mother have developed illustrous methods of connecting the man with the crown to the land or at least some aspects of her. Some of them whinniing.
